Case Study

Background & Objectives

WFEG wanted an interactive and graphically rich website through which they could engage and recruit members and manage membership, promote their activities and initiatives and run an annual Parish Carbon Foot-printing Exercise designed to measure the progress of the community towards a low-carbon future.

The programming requirements for the Foot-printing exercise were complex and incorporated a full Parish address file with only Parish residents being able to complete the footprint, a methodology to capture not only fuel consumption but also house data, travel information and other elements which go to make up the Parish carbon usage.

The site also allows secure online donations via PayPal, full member control of their personal account, and a host of other functionality.

Our Solutions

  • Branding and Design – We created an impactive and quirky design which appeals to a wide age range and adds a fun element to a serious subject.
  • Capturing requirements – We spend a significant amount of time defining the scope and functionality of the system based on a wish list from the client.
  • Custom Software Development – Perceptis programmed a custom Carbon Foot-printing module specifically to meet the needs of the client and based on sound mathematical and social research principles.
  • Usability – The site contains deceptively complex functionality which it is easy to navigate with easy access to the areas required.
  • Private Secure Account System – Parish users can log onto the system at any time and view the up-to-date performance of their own household, their street/post code and the overall Parish. They can also control their own data and preferences.
  • Blog and Forum – The site contains both a blog and a comprehensive Forum area designed to encourage sharing of views and ideas across the Parish.
